An app for our single friends who are done with dating apps. Please read our love letter to you: Dear Friends,

PlotTwist (formerly Fourplay Social) isn’t a dating app. But it is an app for singles. On PlotTwist single friends create a joint profile and match with other pairs, turning boring first dates into actually fun, four-person outings/double dates/group hangs/etc. (call it whatever you want!).

We’re Danielle and Julie, cofounders of PlotTwist, healthcare providers (Danielle is a nurse practitioner and Julie is a physician associate), best friends from college (WE ARE Penn State), and yes, single. If that ever changes, someone please remind us to update this.

So, just know: WE GET IT.

We’re part of the ~80% of singles burnt out from dating apps. We know why they suck. The letdown when URL chemistry doesn’t translate IRL. The pressure. The ghosting. The safety concerns. The awkward moment when the check comes (flavorless, sugar-free icing on the dating app monotony cake). We’ve been through it all.

We built PlotTwist because we believe singles deserve better. Better than superficial swipes. Better than, “prob won’t respond here, dm me @publichandlewithacheck.” Better than people who are “overly competitive about everything.” Better than the same stale experience, over and over again. You know what’s not stale or flavorless? A double date!

Single life should feel spontaneous, social, fulfilling, and safe. It should be full of unexpected plans, connections you didn’t see coming, and core memories with your favorite people. And if you happen to find love or forge new friendships along the way, great. If you don’t, you’re still living your most authentic, dynamic life, and spending it with someone who always has your back. That’s the power of a double date. What’s better than that?

We’re not here to make you promises we can’t keep or to sell you on what your relationship status should be. We’re here because social connection is a fundamental human need, and we don’t ever want you to feel alone. Because you’re not.

Btw we’re also PlotTwist users (let’s match?) so we wanna say:
to the lifelong friends we’ve met through PlotTwist - we adore you
to the guys we’ve dated through PlotTwist who are forever part of our single life lore - we love you (even if you didn’t love us back... your loss, tbh)
and to the people we haven’t met yet but will because of PlotTwist - we’re ready when you are.

Create your joint profile
Browse other teams (when you like a team and they like your team back, that’s a connection, or what you might call a match on dating apps)
Group chat with your connections
Make plans for group hang (or a double date, or a meet up, or whatever you want to call it!!!) IRL

Wondering what happened to Fourplay? Hi… It’s still us! Just a new lewk. After listening to our users, being our users, and keeping a pulse on the culture of singlehood, we realized that we’ve outgrown dating, and our name should embody that. So, RIP Fourplay Social (you were a great pun, but you sure caused a lotta confusion…).

The change to PlotTwist reflects what we’ve learned from our community. Our app is about the unexpected outcomes that happen when you prioritize social connection over transactional first dates.

Being single is not just a relationship status; it’s a chapter of life, and the people you meet along the way can completely change the trajectory of your story. PlotTwist is here to connect you to those people. Our name finally captures the magic our community has been creating all along.
